Warren Hills Regional School District Announces 2025–2026 Governor’s Educator of the Year Recipients

Washington, NJ — December 11, 2025— The Warren Hills Regional School District is proud to announce the 2025–2026 Governor’s Educator of the Year (GEOY) honorees: Marshall Cuomo, Teacher of the Year, and Margaret “Maggie” Devine, Educational Services Professional of the Year. Both educators exemplify excellence in teaching, leadership, and service to students, staff, and the broader school community, and both are alumni of Warren Hills! 

 


Teacher of the Year: Mr. Marshall Cuomo

Marshall Cuomo is celebrated for his dynamic instructional practices, contagious enthusiasm, and unwavering dedication to student growth and well-being. A highly respected Statistics and Computer Science teacher, Mr. Cuomo transforms complex content into engaging, meaningful learning experiences through hands-on activities, real-world connections, and energetic classroom interactions. Students and families consistently praise his ability to make challenging material accessible, relatable, and enjoyable.

Under his leadership, both the AP Statistics and AP Computer Science Principles programs have experienced remarkable expansion. Enrollment in AP Statistics has more than doubled, and AP Computer Science Principles has grown significantly, reflecting students’ enthusiasm for his classes and his exceptional ability to motivate learners. Mr. Cuomo teaches students not only academic content, but “how to think at its core”—a philosophy that drives both high achievement and deep understanding.

Beyond instruction, Mr. Cuomo is known for his warmth, empathy, and mentorship. Whether greeting students at the door, supporting them through personal challenges, or offering flexible opportunities for mastery learning, he builds a classroom culture rooted in respect and care. He also serves as a mentor to colleagues and brings dedication and spirit to the school’s football program as a long-standing coach.

Mr. Cuomo’s passion, reliability, and commitment to the Warren Hills community make him an exemplary representative of the Governor’s Educator of the Year program.

 


Educational Services Professional of the Year: Mrs. Margaret “Maggie” Devine

Maggie Devine has been a cornerstone of the Warren Hills school community for more than three decades. Starting her career as a middle school English teacher and now serving as the district’s library media specialist for the past 15 years, Mrs. Devine has consistently demonstrated dedication, creativity, and compassionate service to students and staff.

A tireless advocate for literacy and student engagement, Ms. Devine leads a wide range of programs and initiatives—including Horizons, SAGA, Poetry Slam events, and numerous writing workshops across New Jersey through the National Writing Project. She also serves as an adjunct English professor at Drew University and is known for the countless recommendation letters she writes each year in support of students’ futures.

Within the library, Ms. Devine cultivates a warm, inclusive, and academically rich environment where students feel supported and inspired. She collaborates frequently with teachers to design lessons that enhance critical thinking, research skills, and literacy development. Her commitment to staying current with best practices in library and instructional media ensures that the Warren Hills library remains an evolving hub of innovation and learning.

Ms. Devine is respected throughout the district for her professionalism, advocacy, and genuine care for every student. Her lasting contributions to the culture, literacy, and academic success of Warren Hills make her an outstanding choice for Educational Services Professional of the Year.

 


Celebrating Excellence in Education

Superintendent Mr. Earl C. Clymer expressed pride in this year’s honorees, noting that both Mr. Cuomo and Ms. Devine exemplify the heart of the Warren Hills mission: fostering an environment where students thrive academically, socially, and personally.

“These educators represent the very best of our district—their dedication, creativity, and commitment to students enrich our school community every day,” said Superintendent Clymer. “We are honored to recognize their exceptional contributions.”
